A View Into August's Flamenco At El Paseo

In August Clinard Dance partnered with El Paseo Community Garden to offer the Pilsen community outdoor flamenco classes. We are calling the series Flamenco at El Paseo.

This summer members from the community came together to enjoy the good weather and develop community bond through the art of flamenco. Check out some of the photos from the event and drawings made by long-time collaborator Dmitry Samarov.

We are continuing our partnership to present more community flamenco classes, and are expanding to present interactive performances. Our next series will run from September 15 to October 23. Community Flamenco classes will take place on Tuesdays, and interactive performances on Fridays. The interactive performance will feature a mix of live performances and a dance party. See our video from August’s classes that give a flavor of what to expect.

The series is also focused on supporting other community groups to amplify their work. For our August activity, we are happy to announce that we were able to collect $300 in donations for Good Kids Mad City. From September to October we will be collecting donations for Pilsen Food Pantry.

The community flamenco classes and performances are open to all members of the community, as participants or audience. Come out and participate in a relaxed introduction to the basics of flamenco. No prior experience necessary. Formal flamenco shoes not required.

Classes are be held on the north end of the garden between Cullerton and 21st street. Please note we will be dancing on the grass and wooden platforms.
